Compelling irresistible ideas come from having lots of ideas to choose from.

No one can come up with amazing ideas every time. But out of 10 ideas you come up  with, there’ll be one that’s great. Out of 10 that are great, one’ll be amazing. Out of 10 amazing ideas, you’ll get one outstanding ideas. That’s how you’ll end up writing compelling outstanding content for your audience. It takes practice, time and effort. Coming up with new ideas all the time is a muscle to train.

I’ve already put together a list of 100 ideas to create content. To help you some more (and me), I’ve put together a list of 37 ways to come up with new ideas for blog posts, Facebook posts, Twitter posts, well, pretty much any content out there you need to create.

  1. Keep a notebook and pen with you everywhere you go, or use your Notes App on your cell phone. There’s a good chance your best ideas won’t come up when you’re at your desk in front of your computer.
  2. Ask more “What if…” questions. Don’t be afraid to have completely crazy ideas. Learn to think beyond what seems obvious.
  3. Daydream. Allow yourself to daydream. In our highly productive society, it’s important to take time to do nothing and let your mind go wherever it wants to.
  4. Do not compare yourself to others. To build your brand, you want to stand out right?
  5. Try new things. Often when I go to a art exhibition, I get countless ideas for my blog posts. There’s no direct link between the two, it just stimulates my creativity.
  6. Brainstorm with your friends and family. There are probably things they’d want to know more about your business. Let them put you on track to finding new ideas. By the way, don’t judge and don’t make fun of them.
  7. Read, read and read some more. Online and offline. Take a book on one of your industry’s topic and go through it quickly.
  8. Take a bubble bath. Inactivity creates space for new ideas.
  9. Listen to music (Listen to Mozart)

  15. Meditate. If you can’t meditate, sit still for 15 minutes
  16. Free-associate. Open the dictionary to a random word and write down everything it makes you think of.
