Eliminate to enjoy calm and order

Before even talking about outsourcing, let’s talk about elimination!

Outsourcing is something I’ve practiced for over 4 years now. I know what I’m talking about.

And you know what? I had no idea how much time an employee could waste by my fault on stuff that I didn’t really need.

So now, before I even think about outsourcing something to one of my independent contractors, I ask myself: “Do I really need this done?” and the second question is: “What if in 2 weeks, this had not got done? Would there be a problem or would it not even get noticed??” haha

You see what I mean.

That’s also the reason why it’s important you keep track of all the tasks you do yourself, and all the tasks you outsource.

This way, you can easily reflect back once a week and once a month on what got done, and see what could have been eliminated (that’s the first thinking process I got through when I reflect on the tasks that were processed).

Outsourcing should go through an entire decision-making system (takes 3 sec once you’re used to it). And the first step is: “Can this task be eliminated?”

Eliminate, Automate, Delegate should be your new credo if you want to live a rich life. And it starts first with eliminate!

Yes, my friend… well that’s if you don’t want to waste your money nor your time.

To track what I outsource to my team, I use a free tool called Trello. I just love it because I can create checklists and use those checklists again for similar tasks. You can set deadlines, and comment right into the software. This way, no email ping pong to get things done.

Outsourcing should free up your time, not take up more time! And outsourcing can be draining. So leverage on the easy tools that work best!

QUESTION OF THE WAY: Have you outsourced work before? How did it go? Share your thoughts in the comment below…
